After you install Trellis, you may notice that your images aren’t displaying at the size you have selected. This can happen when changing themes because image dimensions that are available in your new theme were likely not available in your previous theme.

Luckily, we have two very simple solutions to help. In this article, you will find the instructions for regenerating thumbnails for featured images only and regenerating thumbnails for all images.

Regenerating Featured Images

If the Featured Image Size setting in the Mediavine Trellis > Display Section is not changing the size of your Featured Images for your Latest Post page, Category pages, and other Feed Pages, it could mean you’ll need to regenerate the image thumbnails for your featured images.

  1. In your WordPress admin, navigate to Appearance > Mediavine Trellis > Display.

  2. Under the Images subheading, go to the setting for Featured Image Size. There, you will find a button labeled Regenerate Featured Images. Click that button.

Note: This action cannot be undone.

This will cause your featured images to display in the size you have selected within the Trellis settings, rather than the size that carried over from your previous theme. Be sure to clear all caching, and you’re done!

Regenerating All Images

We recommend regenerating all image thumbnails after installing Trellis. If images other than your featured images are displaying at the wrong size, such as images in your posts, this will remedy that issue. (Note that this setting will also regenerate your featured image sizes.)

  1. Navigate to Appearance > Mediavine Trellis > Advanced.

  2. Scroll down to the Permanent Actions section, and find the option for Regenerate Images. Click the button Regenerate All Images.

Note: This action cannot be undone.

Be sure to clear all caching, and you should be all set!
